New Year: Planning & Make It Work

January 09, 2018 0 Comments A+ a-

Happy New Year! 2018 is finally here and the holiday festivities are also still here. What a better way to start the new year other than with planning. If you haven't done it by the end of the year already, you still have time to plan out anything you want to accomplish in the new year. So grab your journal and pen and let's start planning!

I know it's been days since New Year but there is no such a thing as being late to plan out how this year would be for you. Time doesn't stop but that shouldn't stop you to plan out how you want 2018 to be. I do like to plan out but that doesn't mean I have all my plans ready for the new year. Sometimes things happen and plan doesn't always work out. But that's okay! Life is a learning curve so best to see your previous plans and current ones and improvise when you need to.

I'm no expert in planning but I'm willing to share what I know and what works for me. To be honest I have so many failures whether it's my study, my relationship and also life in general. I have my ups and downs and I face my depression openly just recently. It was tough as the timing to open up and actually brave enough to admit at least to myself wasn't right. Hence it caused failure as a person. My self-esteem dropped and I have my lowest in valuing myself and that was bad. At least that was what I felt and I shut down.

Being shut down made me realize that there are things you can't plan. Like people's responses and how things go. It's out of your hand and it was tough for me until today to feel the anxiety creeping out and made me not able to check social media and being up-to-date. So at the time I was seeking how to be better and healthy, mentally and physically. I go to gym more often as I could. I meet old friends for support and catch up. I even managed to plan business with my friend after our courses this year.

Aside of that I've installed some apps on my phone to work on my anxiety and try to track my mood better. I realized that more often recently I skipped my menstrual cycle because of my depression and anxiety. There was a month I don't have my menstrual cycle and it bothered me. Those apps have helped me for weeks now and I hope it would be a good habit for me. If you want to know what those apps are, let me know in the comment box below and I shall post them on my next blog post.

So how to make plans work? The thing is how big your will to do so. You can try to make a list of smaller action to fulfill your plans. That way you can track how far you have come and how close you are to reach your goal. If your will isn't that big, try to find ways and reasons on why you want this plan to work and what your outcome would be when that plan fulfilled. For example the business plan I made with my friend. The first action was to study the courses we have planned. There would be more to-do list after that but what would be the outcome? For me, I want to be independent financially. That would be achieved if the business worked. It's a long shot but I'm willing to try.

That's a long post for just giving one example but I hope you figure out what to do with your planning for 2018. It wouldn't be easy so try to share your plans with your significant others as they could be your support system. Maybe you can be their support system to support their plans as well! Share your plans for 2018 down below on the comment box and we could work on our plans together. Don't worry if you haven't planned yet. Maybe you're adventurous and that's okay!
