Me, Reading and Books: The Story

I guess for anyone who's been sticking to my post including my book blog and my Goodreads would already know how much I love to read, hence there goes my bookshelf and book pile. Here's my story about books and reading.

Reading has always been my escapade, whether it is novels, articles, comics, I always read whenever I have time. I guess I should thank my mom because I learn how to read and love books since young because of her. I remember the days she bought me a picture book of Sesame Street about Betty Lou and Grover. That might be the first book I read. Then it grew into something else like encyclopedia and such but I also remember my first English book would be Laura Ingalls Wilder books.

I learned that reading from the author's original language is always the best options, especially in English and I knew that from my mom's book collection. She somehow left some of her books in my room during my younger years and even though I knew it wasn't suitable for my age, I read them anyway, hence my vocabulary grew faster and also so much for wide knowledge in adult romance. I guess my curiosity back then was still in safe territory that I didn't do anything much from my mom's books, most because my knowledge wasn't a lot and internet was not as vastly spread like today that I always pass them as things-I-would-know-in-the-future.

Funny though today me and my mom share our books, mostly the Mills & Boon ones because that's the only genre she would read from my bookshelf. Shown above was my additional rack made by my dad. I appreciate his effort to make use of my empty wall for more book storage. I have other bookshelf on my wall but it seems full in no time at all.

Despite having books in physical condition I do like to read by ebooks, as it is easier to bring wherever I go. I could say my collection of ebooks is more than I have in physical and yes I do share them too with my mom. She could select the ones she wanted to read easily as she's tech-savy-er than my dad.

My love for reading and books also made a habit of visiting bookstores to any malls I go to and that is a must-go-to. I never miss any bookstore visit and I love every visit. There is always new things I could see there and broaden my reading genres. Oh yes I have interest in many genres so I rarely refuse books. Some I rarely read is mostly horror stuff as I don't like horror in general but I do read fantasy and sci-fi with unique and weird creatures in it.

What about you? Do you like reading? What genre do you like to read the most? Share your favorite book and your current reading in the comment box below :)
